2015 Highlights
Read our articles in EcoNews, a bi-monthly publication of the Northcoast Environmental Center.
We hosted radio shows on both KHSU’s EcoNews Report program and KMUD’s Environment Show.
We submitted comments to multiple agencies for a variety of issues ranging from rules for cannabis cultivation to altering flows from the Potter Valley Project dams. Some of these include comments for the North Coast Water Board on their waiver of waste discharge; comments for Humboldt County’s Medical Marijuana Land Use Ordinance; and comments for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s decision to alter flows from the Potter Valley Project.
Our Executive Director, Scott Greacen once again appeared on national television, this time in an interview with PBS Newhour’s Spencer Michels about the impacts of wine grape and cannabis cultivation on the Eel River.
Our case against the North Coast Railroad Authority is on the California Supreme Court docket awaiting a court date. Last year a variety of amicus briefs – including a somewhat surprise showing of support from farm bureaus in Merced and  Madera – were filed for our case. Read more about our case against the NCRA here.
We celebrated our 20th anniversary with events in Arcata, Briceland, and Petaluma. We are so thankful for the support of our members and community.  This giant timeline helped us reflect on the past 100 years of activities in the Eel River.TIMELINE_FULL
