Native Plant Network Vision
The Eel River Native Plant Network connects Tribal Nations, stewards, gatherers, and growers to increase and sustain diverse native plant material production that supports Eel River watershed restoration, cultural uses, and food sovereignty.
Launching the ERNPN
The idea began to take root in early 2024 when Friends of the Eel River staff reflected on the many years spent collecting and amplifying seed for restoration of the Klamath River reservoirs. By spring of 2026, the Network launched.
March 18, 2026: Eel River Native Plant Network Orientation
The Network launched on March 18, 2026 with a virtual orientation session that included 74 network members. Participants built early connections, provided input on the draft vision, and shared what they most hope for and need from this collaboration.
What We Heard
As part of launching the Network, FOER staff conducted over two dozen one-on-one interviews with various Network members across the region (and beyond). This includes commercial nurseries, Tribal Nations, conservation districts, restoration practitioners, federal and state agencies, and NGOs. We asked about their priorities, their challenges, what’s working, and what role a regional native plant network could play.
