Administrative Manager

This position starts at 25 hours per week with the opportunity to increase to 30. The job requires occasional travel over weekends mostly in summer. Hybrid work environment, but must work at least 15 hours per week in the Eureka office.

This position has a lot of potential for growth. We are also open to two part-time positions broken into office management/fundraising and outreach. We encourage anyone to apply even if they have only some of the below skills and qualifications.


Duties

Office Management

  • Order and stock office supplies
  • Manage merchandise inventory and place orders as needed
  • Answer phone and check voicemail
  • Keep track of passwords and assist with access to technical systems
  • Manage general email account, respond to or forward inquiries to appropriate staff person
  • Record income including donations, merchandise sales, rent from sub-tenants, and other revenue sources

Fundraising

Donations

  • Record donations and grants in a CRM database
  • Generate thank-you letters using mail merge
  • Generate and send monthly renewal requests using mail merge
  • Process and send online merchandise orders

Assist with semiannual fund appeals

  • Generate database reports for fund appeals
  • Assist with graphics including development of annual report charts
  • Facilitate bulk mail process: sort addresses by zip code; use mail merge to personalize letters; fill out post office bulk mail form; interface with printers; and drop off finished and sorted mailing at post office.

Outreach and Organizing

Events

  • Submit applications for tabling opportunities at events throughout the watershed
  • Attend events and represent FOER
  • Identify and implement other opportunities for public engagement including pint nights, community mixers, and others
  • Assist with FOER events including open houses, guided hikes, and more

Volunteers

  • Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with events
  • Maintain database of volunteers with contact information and hours volunteered

Website and Social Media

  • Maintain WordPress website: complete updates, add content in coordination with ED.
  • Develop and post content, and engage with supporters on social media accounts

Required Qualifications

  • A desire to recover and protect our environment, particularly the Eel River and fisheries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to work at least 25 hours per week on a regular schedule
  • Ability to work some weekends and travel for events
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs
  • Reliable transportation to FOER office in Eureka and a valid CA driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Experience with Google Drive and Google Docs
  • Familiarity with professional use of social media applications including Facebook, Instagram, and Linktree

Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel including use of formulas
  • Proficiency working with Salesforce database
  • Knowledge of Eel River ecology, history, and restoration landscape
  • Expertise with WordPress and professional use of social media applications
  • Experience with graphic design using Adobe Photoshop, or Canva

Compensation and Benefits

Starting wage is $18.00 per hour. Wage and hour increase are available following probationary period. Health insurance available to employees after 6 months employment. Employees receive 80 hours of vacation time, a paid day off for their birthday, 10 paid holidays, and 40 hours of sick leave and a cell phone stipend.
