Crab Park via Humboldt County edited reduced size

Join us to clean up Crab Park at the mouth of the Eel River as part of Coastal Cleanup Month 2024 on Saturday, September 14th! Coastal Cleanup Month is one of the largest volunteer events in California, and it was founded right here in Humboldt by the Northcoast Environmental Center. There will be cleanups happening every Saturday in September, and for every cleanup you participate in, you’ll be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a prize!

Crab Park is a beloved beach in the estuary of the Eel River that with a little bit of love and care can be a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors. So bring yourself, your friends, or even your whole family between 10am – 1pm on the 14th for a fulfilling day of volunteer work. Remember to bring water and weather-appropriate clothing. Gloves, trash pickers, and trash bags will be provided.

Please meet at the parking lot at the end of Cannibal Island Rd at 10am. We recommend carpooling in a vehicle with good clearance as the road is bumpy and parking is limited. Wasps have been sighted at this location; please wear clothing that covers your body and refrain from using scented products such as cologne or shampoo day-of.

Crab Park is located at the end of Cannibal Island Road in Loleta, California.

Can’t make it to the event? There are still other ways to get involved! Click here to sign up for our volunteer email list and be notified of future opportunities to help the Eel River, its fisheries, and communities.
